BiliChecker will help you to choose the safest management option for a baby with neonatal jaundice in less than 1 minute.

Based on the age-specific management option developed as part of the UK National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) ‘Neonatal jaundice’ guideline, the user inputs the time and date of birth together with the time and date of the bilirubin test to calculate the baby’s age in hours.

BiliChecker then uses this information in combination with the bilirubin levels to indicate the safest management option from:

- repeat bilirubin measurement in 6–12 hours
- consider phototherapy and repeat bilirubin measurement in 6 hours
- start phototherapy
- perform an exchange transfusion unless the bilirubin level falls below threshold while the treatment is being prepared.

BiliChecker has a direct link to the source guideline and gestational age-specific nonograms. It is internationally friendly, allowing the bilirubin level to be entered using either mg/dl or μmol/l.

Based on research carried out by the National Collaborating Centre for Women’s and Children’s Health (NCC-WCH), allied to the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG). Bilichecker was adapted from the app BiliCalc by Dr. Jacob Beniflah.
